Community Outreach and Programming
The Alief ISD Library Program is involved in the Alief Community in several ways. We bring Author Visits to the students of Alief ISD, take students on field trips to local area Book Conventions, host Battle of the Book Competitions for students and sponsor Little Free Libraries at our campuses.
What Is A Little Free Library?
A Little Free Library is a free book exchange. It belongs to everyone, and everyone can use it!
Take Books
If you see something you would like to read, take it.
When you're finished, share it with a friend, bring it back here, or leave it in another Little Free Library.
Give Books
It's up to everyone to keep this Library full of good reads!
Bring books to share when you can, and continue being a friend of Little Free Libraries everywhere!
Thanks to the Alief Education Foundation for funding this project, students at the Center for Advanced Careers for building the houses, and students and staff across the district for painting the houses.
Additional locations coming this fall.
Battle of the Books
2021/2022 Battle Of The Books
Congratulations to the teams that won Alief Battle of the Books competitions during April 2022. The event is a reading incentive program that encourage students to read quality books and then compete with their peers identifying the title and author by questions and phrases. This year’s competition was fantastic because all teams provided challenging battles causing nail biting and tie breaking questions.
And the Winners are...
3rd Grade: Rees Elementary - 1st Place / Liestman Elementary - 2nd Place
4th Grade: Chancellor Elementary - 1st Place / Liestman Elementary - 2nd Place
Intermediate: Mata - 1st place / Klentzman - 2nd place
TeenBookCon
Alief ISD students attended TeenBookCon, a top Houston book convention that connects teens with authors. The trip was partially funded by a TeenBookCon Bus Grant.
